‘The List’ – 33 Gotta Have Firefox Extensions

If you don’t want to read my witty commentary on every extension, you can just come to this post andicon19.gif grab my entire Firefox configuration by clicking on each URL and then installing each extension. Someday I may come up with something that simplifies things even more but this is the fastest way to get my configuration in a snap. I have now completed this list and I don’t expect it to change unless I discover some great new ability.

Eventually I plan to link all the names of the products to my post on the product but I thought my readers would find value in this now so I’ve gone a head and put it out here. I hope to have the rest of the work done soon.

Two questions – how do you control Hyperwords configuration rules if the URL generation rules aren’t quite right. Plus, for large companies, would need a way to export Hyperwords configuration so eveyone can have access to the exact same company intranet search portals.

  2. I wanted to contact Darrell to respond to his comment… but the link to his email address isn’t working right now. It might be a wordpress issue… but I will comment anyway so that other people can see the response and maybe Darrell will read it here….

I am not the developer of this software. So you’ll want to go to Firefox’s extension page and look at hyperwords… there it will give you the developer and contact name. I believe it will also provide that information in the ‘tools’ section under hyperword and ‘about’…

However, I can tell you that the kind of alterations you mention could probably be done. The great thing about mozilla (which Firefox’s parent) is that all the source code is available. So you can do it yourself or you can create a project and hire someone to do it… and I think you’ll find the community is very helpful and encourages this kind of customization.

Thanks for reading and writing Darrell! Good to hear from you… 🙂

    Sincerely,
    Your Editor, Ethan Dickenson

    Hi Ethan,

I just came across your mention of our PDF Download add-on above and thought I’d contact you to see whether you’d be interested in participating in a private beta for the upcoming PDF Download 2.0. The program starts today and is limited to a small number of existing PDF Download users.

If this is of interest, please email me privately and I’ll send you info on PDF Download 2.0 and how you can get started with the beta.

    Regards,
    Richard
