Today’s ‘Best of Breed’ is a blog about my continuing effort to identify the best suite of freeware (or open source software) for a Windows PC. I am also including websites now because users can now interact with software applications, free of charge, through their browser. Therefore, I’m including a browser (Firefox) and the free extensions and other software that go along with the browser. Everything I list on this site is free to the user. Everything I list on this site, I have downloaded, installed, and continue to use myself. I am constantly seeking to improve my suite of free software. Any advice, recommendations, or comments are appreciated. I’ll respond to all comments in a timely manner.
Use the ‘categories’ or search engine to get to the software you are looking for. I plan to update my blog frequently so please subscribe to the ‘live bookmark’ available on the far right column of the blog just below the ‘Commentary’. Just right click on the syndication button and choose ‘save as live bookmark’. Breed is my nickname for the site. You will often see me refer to the blog as ‘Breed’. This was necessary to identify my ‘widgets’ in the space allowed by WordPress and the nickname stuck.
To sum things up, everything I link to and/or review on this site is free to you, the user. I use everything I recommend and list on Breed. My efforts to identify the best suite of freeware is an ongoing project and I could use your help. I invested many hours downloading and trying software and I was amazed at the software that is available and I thought that if someone could separate the ‘wheat from the chaff’ people would realize that they could do almost anything they wanted with a suite of freeware. I want to be the site people go to, trust, and support, to configure their PC. I want to save you time and let you benefit from the hours I’ve invest in my continuing quest for the best suite of free software.
Sincerely, Your Author,
